garyswift@newwavecomm.netI am a computer geek so I love video games (been playing Eve-Online lately, which is where my goofy LJ name comes from). My LJ avatar is also a quip spawned from my experiences in Eve. I'm a big carebear in-game most of the time but I like to Yarrr (that's the sound a pirate makes) once in a while and I certainly do have something nasty hidden behind my back when people mess with me.
I read a lot of books, including all genre of fiction and some non-fiction too. I especially like to read fiction that is based on true stories or historical events and people. One of my favorite book is "A Briefer History of Time" the sequel to "A Brief History of Time", by Stephen Hawkins. I listen to all kinds of music. My list of MP3's includes bag pipe music (for real) as well as Wagner, Led Zepplin, and Tool.
I love to cook and I usually don't like other people messing with my kitchen stuff. I especially can't stand it when a girlfriend tries to throw my good knives or pans into the dish washer (Grrrrr) or worse yet when they use metal utensiles on my non-stick pans.
I like anything that has to do with cutting edge physics, astronomy research and scientific discovery. I don't believe global warming has been properly researched so I don't buy any of that crap about humans destroying the planet. Maybe I'll make my first blog entry about that. I'm a republican and I can see both the good things and the bad things that all of our presidents have done, regardless of their political party. I like to listen to AM talk radio and I even call in to share my vast wizdom with the world from time to time. lolz.
I'm not really into working out but I keep in good shape (same weight as I was in High School, 170 lbs) by having an active lifestyle and making smart choices about the things I eat. (as I work on my second giant cup of coffee today...)
I have lived all over the east half of the country, including New Jersey, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Kansas, Alabama, Indiana, and now I'm in South Carolina. I love the Southeast US and I think I'd like to stay here the rest of my life. The weather is warm and so are the people.
